  • Day 1 - London Paddington to Pwlhelli, steam hauled between London and Shrewsbury via the Chilterns. Diesel hauled from Shrewsbury to Pwllheli along the Cambrian Coast
  • 3 nights in Snowdonia
  • Days 2 and 3 - In Snowdonia at leisure.  Optional excursions will be available to book in early 2024 (supplements apply).
  • Day 4 – North Wales to Cardiff, steam hauled between Holyhead and Crewe along the North Wales Coast. Diesel hauled from Crewe over the Central Wales Line to Cardiff.
  • 1 night in Cardiff
  • Day 5 - Cardiff to London Paddington. Morning at leisure in Cardiff followed by a steam hauled return to London Paddington via the Severn Estuary & Golden Valley.

Pwllheli

Pwllheli is a market town and community of the Llyn Peninsula in Gwynedd, north-western Wales.
It boasts two Blue Flag beaches, Penarth Fawr (a 15th-century house) and a modern marina but is best known as the terminus of the Cambrian Coast Railway.

Price includes:

3 days travel by private charter train over Britain’s most stunning railway lines, hauled by a mix of vintage steam and diesel locomotives.

4 night’s hotel accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis (based on sharing a double or twin room, for single occupancy supplements apply - detailed below).

Coach transfers between the train and hotels (when required).

Luggage courier service throughout, transporting all luggage directly to and from hotel rooms.

A team of helpful staff both on board the train and at all hotels to ensure a memorable and enjoyable journey with us.

Pullman Dining passengers only:

Pullman Dining passengers will dine on the train on days 1, 4 & 5 to suit journey times.

Wine will be served with the main meal on each day (1, 4 & 5).

Pullman Dining passengers will be served dinner in the hotel on days 2 and 3.

Access to the luxurious Mt Helicon Bar Car with lounge style seating, to mingle with travel companions and indulge in a drink from the Hippocrene Bar.

First Class passengers only:

First Class passengers will be served dinner in the hotel on day 1.

Hotel supplements for sole occupancy

For single passengers there is a hotel single supplement to pay of £550 in Pullman Dining£495 in First Class or £325 in Premium Standard.

Optional on board seating extras

In Pullman Dining and First Class groups of two have the option to book a Private Table for Two or a Luxury Private Table for Two on the train. On Private Tables for Two passengers are seated on a seperate two seat table accross the aisle from a four seat table which will be occupied by four other passengers. These are available for an additional £600 per table in Pullman Dining or £500 per table in First Class. On Luxury Private Table for Two a four seat table is reserved exclusively for the use of two passengers providing additional privacy, space and comfort. This table is accross the aisle from a regular two seat table which will be occupied by two other passengers. Luxury Private Tables for Two are available for an additional £1200 per table in Pullman Dining or £1000 per table in First Class.

Inclusive seating in all classes is at four seat tables sharing with other passengers.

Pullman Dining – Choose* from the New House Country Hotel just outside Cardiff or The Parkgate Hotel in the city centre

First Class – The Parkgate Hotel or similar

Premium Standard – a centrally located Premier Inn or similar

This trip will feature a variety of heritage steam and diesel traction.

On steam hauled portions of the journey listed below the locomotives used are likely to be from the following selection: 34046 'Braunton', 46100 'Royal Scot', 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' or 70000 'Britannia'.

Details of planned traction of each day are as follows:
Day 1 - London to Shrewsbury - Steam Hauled, Shrewsbury to Pwllheli - Two Network Rail Class 97 Diesels.
Day 4 - Holyhead to Crewe - Steam Hauled, Crewe to Cardiff - Two Class 37 or Class 20 Diesels. Day 5 - Cardiff to London - Steam Hauled.
